Our stories, symbols, and systems shape our lives. Some empower us, others confine, and most operate below the level of conscious awareness. From our individual, personal experience to collective endeavors like our businesses and civilizations, it’s all a product of our stories, symbols, and systems.
My practice helps people identify the patterns that shape them, uncover the roots of those patterns, and reorganize their lives around deeper sources of meaning. Together, we discover the stories, symbols, and systems that guide us. Then we examine them, clarify them, and recognize their influence. Where necessary, we strengthen them, rewrite them, or replace them altogether. In short, this work is where everything I write about finds practical application.
Stories are the narratives that run through every facet of human experience. From our own inner monologue and family life, to our work and our businesses, to our relationships with our communities and with the world at large, the stories that we tell ourselves and each other weave it all together. They shape how we see ourselves, what we believe is possible, and the meaning that we assign to our lives. Some we inherit from our families, ancestors, and cultures, while others we write for ourselves through personal experience and choice. By identifying the stories that guide us, clarifying the role they play, and determining whether they still serve us, we’re able to reshape our own lives.
Symbols are the language of the deeper psyche. They appear in dreams, intuitions, recurring themes, spiritual experiences, and the images that capture our attention. Often, they reveal truths that remain hidden from conscious awareness. Far from random, symbols recur across cultures and throughout history, enduring because they speak to fundamental patterns of human experience. By learning to recognize and interpret these symbols, we gain access to dimensions of ourselves that are otherwise difficult to see.
Systems are the structures that our lives unfold within. Daily routines and workflows, family dynamics and interpersonal relationships, business practices and office politics, religious doctrines and cultural institutions, communities and their unwritten rules, laws and civilizational frameworks: all of these and more are examples of the systems that envelop our lives. Understanding how they operate allows us to navigate them more effectively, align ourselves with healthier structures, and build for ourselves new systems that better reflect our own values.
Every person arrives with a different set of questions, challenges, and aspirations. Some seek clarity during periods of transition. Others are searching for meaning, direction, or a deeper understanding of themselves. Still others are navigating challenges within their relationships, businesses, or creative endeavors.
Rather than applying a rigid methodology, I work with the stories, symbols, and systems unique to each person and situation. Together, we explore what is already present, discover what no longer serves, and cultivate the conditions for something more coherent, meaningful, and alive to emerge. The aim is not simply growth, clarity, or change, but a life that feels both large and whole.
This practice tends to resonate most with people who find themselves at a crossroads:
. . . you’ve achieved success, yet you still feel like there’s something missing.
. . . you have everything you’ve ever wanted, yet it still doesn’t feel like enough.
. . . you feel great about your life, and you want to find meaningful ways to spread that greatness.
. . . you’re searching for something, yet you’re not quite sure what it is.
. . . you feel yourself approaching a breakthrough, or like you’re otherwise going through a major transition.
. . . you sense that something important is trying to emerge through you.
. . . you know beyond any internal doubt that there’s a deeper layer of meaning calling to you.
While every person’s journey is unique, the common thread is a willingness to explore, question assumptions, and engage seriously with the process of transformation.
I’m not here to give anyone the answers. No one can hand us a meaningful life. No one can make us feel both large and whole. Nevertheless, we needn’t undertake that journey alone. If this practice resonates with you, feel free to contact me.
